Key Industrial Properties (Why TP316L?)

The addition of Molybdenum (2-3%) distinguishes TP316L from TP304L, offering:

• Superior Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments (e.g., marine atmospheres, brackish water).

• Resistance to Reducing Acids: Performs well against sulfuric, phosphoric, and acetic acids, especially in moderate temperatures.

• Intergranular Corrosion Resistance: The ultra-low carbon content prevents chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries during welding, eliminating the need for post-weld annealing for corrosion integrity.

• High Temperature Scaling: Resists oxidation up to 870°C (1,600°F) in intermittent service and 925°C (1,700°F) in continuous service (though creep strength declines above 500°C).
